WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Much of the success of a painting is established before you ever touch brush to canvas or pastel to paper. Taking time to think and plan will result in consistently better work. We will study specific elements that make up a painting and learn how to improve each one. Topics include: choosing subject matter, finding a point of view, arranging the elements, developing a strong value structure, enhancing the focal point, making color decisions, and many other design principles. This is not a theoretical class; you will do many hands-on exercises that explain and reinforce each principle. |
