WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

This workshop is for anyone wanting to further their skills of painting the alla prima (wet on wet) portrait. Nothing beats painting from life to learn to see color and form, but most of us don’t always have a live model at the ready. Let’s face it - there are times that painting from life isn’t practical. This workshop will consist of demos, exercises, and personal instruction using photo references. It is designed to give you the tools to take back with you to your own easel. There will be discussion, handouts, demos, and plenty of time at the easel with one-on-one instruction. 

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Kathie was raised in the Chicago area and studied at the American Academy of Art, where she won the prestigious Union Art League Scholarship Competition, then worked as a freelance commercial artist and portrait artist. Kathie creates remarkable landscapes and portraits and works primarily with a rich oil palette. She paints plein air throughout the year, as well as working in the studio. She is a Signature member of Oil Painters of America.  Kathie & her husband live on a small farm in southwest Wisconsin.
