WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Gain insightful knowledge and think like a master painter! Nancy will help you learn the tips and techniques of composing and designing your painting. Simplify, edit, and interpret the scene to tell a story and create that emotional response in the viewer that all artists seek. With a heavy emphasis on the foundations of painting, learn to work quickly and efficiently to not get bogged down by detail and stay loose. Nancy’s demos will include discussion on materials, picking a photo reference, and how to compose it for optimum design. She will cover the usefulness of value studies, power of color temperature, and color harmony. Find out what makes a successful painting! |
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Nancy Nowak earned her BFA degree at Cleveland Institute of Art in enameling and oil painting after taking many drawing and painting classes since the age of nine. After owning both a calligraphy and printing business, she rededicated herself to her creative passion using pastels and oils. Nancy paints professionally and teaches workshops and classes. An avid plein air artist, Nancy strives to evoke an emotional connection and awareness to the everyday beauty that surrounds us. Nancy paints with an impressionist bent in her unique interpretation of the landscape. She has been featured in Plein Air Magazine, Southwest Art Magazine, Pratique des Art, Artist’s Magazine, and numerous times in Pastel Journal Magazine.
