WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

This workshop is for anyone wanting to further their skills of
painting the alla prima portrait.  Students will work from both
the live model and the planes of the head bust.  We will cover
drawing, color, value relationships, and edges.  The first day
will begin with a slide presentation and then move to painting from the bust.  Kathie will demo the first two mornings and then spend
the rest of the workshop guiding students at their easels.  Since the workshop students are at different levels the instruction will be individualized for each student’s specific needs.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Kathie was raised in the Chicago area and studied at the American Academy of Art, where she won the prestigious Union Art League Scholarship Competition, then worked as a freelance commercial artist and portrait artist. Kathie creates remarkable landscapes and portraits and works primarily with a rich oil palette. She paints plein air throughout the year, as well as working in the studio. She is a Signature member of Oil Painters of America.  Kathie & her husband live on a small farm in southwest Wisconsin.
