Michael Ireland

Watercolor

Saturday & Sunday, October 25 & 26, 2008

9:00 – 4:00pm

$200.00

Michael Ireland has participated in the creative process for over thirty years.  He has been an artist, musician, graphic designer, art and creative director, yet it is painting that is his most fervent creative passion.

Michael attended the American Academy of Art where he studied under Irving Shapiro, master watercolorist and instructor.  Thus began an entire life of studying and painting in the medium of watercolor.  After years of balancing the world of corporate design and fine art, Michael made the commitment to become a fulltime fine artist in the year 2000.  In that time since, he has built a reputation not only for the grand landscapes of the prairies and vistas he paints, but for his talent as a teacher as well.

Michael has participated in over one hundred juried invitational shows and is represented by many fine galleries.  In Door County, Michael is represented by Fine Line Designs.

This workshop is primarily geared to beginner and intermediate levels, however, all levels of talent are invited to come as we learn and share talents with the class.  Subjects such as brush strokes, materials and color technique will be reinforced by short demonstrations and examples.  Using this knowledge as a basis we will move into understanding the painting process by themed exercise such as Negative & Positive space.  As the workshop progresses, Mastering the Wash, Color, Wet in Wet, Keep It Simple and Throw Away the Brush! will become the subjects for the days study.
