Registration & Policies -
Call us at (847) 550-0016, or drop by the school at 20 East Main Street in Lake Zurich, to register for a class. Our kids’ classes run 6 weeks long. The 6-8 yr. old classes are 1 ½ hours long and cost $110.00. The 9-11 yr. old classes are 2 hours long and cost $130.00. You have priority to sign up for the next tuition session in the first 4 weeks of the present tuition session. To assure your child’s place in the class, please sign up for the next session by, and no later than the fourth week! This gives our present students priority while giving our waiting list students time to prepare for their admission.
If your child is not continuing, please give us two weeks notice.
If you do not sign up by the fourth week of your current session, we reserve the right to bring in a student from the waiting list and your child will be bumped from the next session. Please respond as soon as possible if you get a phone call from us, stating tuition is due .. is your child continuing? If we do not hear from you immediately, we will assume you are not continuing and therefore we will replace your child’s spot with a new student. We will not take it for granted that he/she is continuing.
You will save us much phone time, if you mark your calendars for Tuition Due Dates. We expect you to keep track. It is not our responsibility to keep reminding you.
There are no refunds once a class has started, unless a class has to be cancelled for lack of the minimum enrollment required. When a refund is issued for a class, there will be a $10.00 processing fee deducted. There are no refunds for missed classes. See below for our make-up policy.
Sometimes there is a Specialty class offered at a higher tuition. This is due to various materials needed.
Our kids take a 10 to 15 minute break from their work half way through their class. Our 6-8yr. olds are encouraged to bring a snack from home. They can purchase a drink from Mainstreet (sodas are $0.75, water is $1.00), if they wish. Our 9-11 yr. olds are given the option of bringing snacks from home or buying a snack from the ice cream store next door. They will be chaperoned by the teacher or the office person. A permission slip must be signed by the parent to let us know whether your child is permitted to leave the building.
Drop Off & Pick Up
Please do not drop your child off more than 10 minutes before a class starts or pick them up more than 5 minutes after it ends. Please be considerate of the teacher. Some have other jobs or commitments to get to, plus it takes time to clean up and reorganize the room before the next class starts. All children must wait inside until their ride comes.
If your child is sick, please consider not sending them to art class. If the student will be absent, please be considerate and call The Studio, that way we can schedule a MAKE UP for another student.
There are NO make-ups for the 6-8 yr. old classes.
The 9-11 yr. olds can make up a class within their present tuition period in another 9-11 yr. old class. Please call the Art Center ahead of time to schedule your make-ups. These make ups can not be made up in a different/future session. If the student will be absent, please be considerate and call The Studio, that way we can schedule a MAKE UP for another student.
The kids need a large portfolio to put their work in, a masonite drawing board to hold their papers for painting, a general pencil, a sketchbook, a roll of paper towels, 3/4"masking tape and a white Mars eraser. Mainstreet provides the paints, pastels, and paper that they will be using in class. You may purchase your supplies from Mainstreet or other locations. Our prices are very comparable to other art stores. You are sure to get the right materials and good quality materials here.
Continuous rude or disruptive behavior, improper, crude, or insulting language will not be tolerated. Mainstreet maintains the right to notify the parents of behavior problems and dismiss the student from class, without a refund. There is no Graffiti allowed anywhere in or around the building.
