Barb Benstein

Exploring Pastel Surfaces

Friday & Saturday
 October 22 & 23, 2021
9:00 am - 4:00 pm

If you are newer to pastels or have only worked on one type of paper or board, this class will bring more awareness to your choices of materials.  Explore the uses that each surface provides, such as which ones will hold a watercolor underpainting, which is easiest to frame, which is the least expensive to practice color compositions, which is the most forgiving, easiest to wash off and reuse, creates the most dust has color choices and their advantages and which will hold more layers to build on before running out of tooth.   You will work with a variety of subject matter. Play & explore and know your possibilities.

Barb Bensteinís love of art started at an early age. Mostly self-taught, she specializes in detailed pastel paintings of people and pets, as well as homes and landscapes. After working as a graphic artist for 10 years, Barb began painting full-time in 1993. Painting with pastels has always been her favorite medium. She loves the vibrancy of the colors and the richness of the texture when applied to sand paper. Barb has won many awards. Her commissioned paintings hang in Germany, Japan, and Canada, as well as throughout the United States.
